Soundtrack Ideas
For the film trailer that my group was producing we had to decide on a soundtrack to accompany the films footage that we have shot. The soundtrack of a film is very important, as the soundtrack alone can set the genre and pace of a film. As our groups production is going to be a Horror film we decided for an instrumental score to accompany the footage as vocals would detract from the ambience and the tension that we are striving to create within the trailer. Below are a few of the choice that our group decided on:
Our First choice and the one that we finally decided to apply to our film was In The House, In A Heartbeat. By John Murphy. This is the music that was used in the film 28 Days Later. We decided that this would be a good choice for our film trailer as it is an instrumental piece that starts very slowly and starts to build up into a large crescendo ending. This is perfect for our trailer which starts off slowly setting the scene and creating some tension and ends in an explosion of action with very quick edits.

Another Choice of our group was the Saw Soundtrack. This was a considered as it does the job of building the pace of the trailer and having a eerie action feeling to it. But this was not what we wanted within the beginning of our trailer and because of this we decided against using this as it was just too fast to fit in with the suspenseful trailer in which we strived to create.

The last choice that we had within out group was The Amityville Horror Soundtrack. This was considered as it has a very atmospheric and tense opening that would fit in perfectly with the trailer, but once again the soundtrack did not fit with the rest of out trailer. At the end of our trailer we have some fast paced action scenes that would not fit in with this as it is very slow and suspenseful throughout the whole 6 minutes.

Film Trailer Re-shoot
After filming the footage that we needed for our film trailer our group decided to look over the footage that we had collected to see that it met the standards that we needed. After looking over the footage that we had captured we decided that the lighting conditions that the scenes were filmed in did not fit with the codes and conventions of a horror film. This is due to the fact that it was filmed just before dusk in which the sun is still up providing ample natural light and making the footage very light, this is the complete opposite of what a horror film should be. To rectify this we decided do re-shoot on the day of 11/11/12 the footage that we needed at a later point in the night. The bad thing about this is that there is only about 20 mins of optimal light in which the camera can pick up and still fitting in with the conventions of horror. This was one of the problems which caused us to have to film again to gather the rest of the footage on the 13/11/12. We have decided to keep some of the lighter footage to show a transition from day to night within the trailer.

Woodland Area (Liverpool Road North)
This is the main setting for the film and the trailer as the film is called "The Woods" which should inevitably be set in a woodland area. We chose this area of the woods as it is very secluded which means that we could film in confidence knowing we would be very unlikely to be disturbed by passers by. It also gets very eerie at sundown which is perfect for our film. The majority of the trailer will be shot here, but we will have to be careful for debris laying around that may cause injury and also keep an eye on the light levels as the trees will block a lot of sun making it hard to film at night.
Lydiate Abbey
This was going to be the setting of the second portion of the film trailer in which the Old Man in introduced to the two friends and this is where he has been hiding out. This would have been a perfect option for this as it was once again very secluded so there was minimal chance that someone would be interrupting us while filming, but due to a large amount of rainfall this was unusable as it was unsafe and just to hard to get a good shot.
Lydiate Hall
Due to our first choice of Lydiate Abbey being unusable we had to think of another place to film the second part of our trailer. For this we decided on Lydiate Hall. Lydiate Hall is a perfect place for us to film our trailer as it is the most secluded place and had absolutely no chance of people interrupting the shooting of the film. It is also very dilapidated giving it a very eerie and dark feeling once the sun starts to set. Lydiate Hall also has many small rooms in which the Old Man can use as his shelter and is also surrounded by woodland which makes the transition from one portion of the trailer to the next.

This will be a list of the actors that we will be using in the production of our film trailer for "The Woods".
Andy - Andy Nelson
We chose Andy to be one of the main stars of our film production as he is a natural when it comes to acting and can preform well in any scene be it from an emotional deep scene or a fast paced action scene. This makes him perfect for a role as one of the main character within the trailer. Andy was chosen to play the laid back chilled character within out film as can be seen from his attire.
Josh - Josh Filson
We have also chosen Josh to play the role of the second star in our film production as he also able to preform very well in any scene from action to emotional scenes and fits the role of the brave outgoing personality that will not let the woods take him alive. Josh is playing the role of the brave leader and will mainly be seen leading the other two throughout the film.
Luke - Luke Hignett
Luke is going to be playing the role of the third friend that enters the woods, but as is in his character goes missing and cannot be found throughout the trailer. Luke is not one of the main actors but is very good at supporting the other two actors and playing off of their reactions making him a very good supporting actor. Luke plays the role of the dopey unlucky friend that trouble just seems to follow.
Old Man - Stephen Hendrikse
Steve is going to playing the role of the Old Man, who according to Propps Narrative would be the helper for the two main stars of the film. Stephen is one of the main stars of the film but is not seen much throughout the trailer except for one scene at the end. Steve is a very good actor for emotional scenes as he can portray emotions very easily using just speech and his facial expressions making him perfect to be the helper.
Running Order
Running Order
This is the running order that I have produced which will be very helpful while shooting and editing as it shows all of the scenes in the order that they should be shown along with the edits, shot types and a small description of what should be happening in the scene. This has been produced along with the storyboards to keep consistency.

Horror Film Poster Analysis (Cabin Fever)
This is the poster for the movie Cabin Fever. There are many different techniques used within the poster that immediately makes the viewer recognise that this is the poster for a Horror Film. One way in which this posters does this is the subtle use of the skull outline using the cabin, which is the main setting for this film, as a mouth. This immediately denotes that there is some form of danger in this film as the skull is a universal icon for death. The skull also creates a very eerie and dark atmosphere within the poster showing what the atmosphere of the whole film will be. Another feature of the film's poster is the use of the black and dark red colour scheme, this is a very iconic colour schemes used within the horror film genres as it gives the viewer a sense of danger. Red is also used to show danger as it is the colour of blood, this is also why is denotes the danger of the film, the red as a colour also associates the red colour with the use of blood within the film. With blood and gore a staple feature within many different horrors this is yet another feature of a horror film poster.
The Title of the film 'Cabin Fever' is displayed in a colour that contrasts from the main image of the poster and also the background of the poster, the main title is the only feature on the poster that is not displayed in the colour red. This is very important as it draw attention to both the title with the contrasting colours and the main image. Below this is the tagline of 'Catch it' which is the slogan of the film. This is displayed in a red colour to not distract from the main title of the film, it also synegises with the rest of the posters house-style of black and red. The list of actors and crew known as the Billing Block is displayed below the tagline and is once again displayed in a red colour which is keeping in line with the posters house style, but is a much darker shade of red, this is done as to not draw attention away from the main focus of the poster being the main image and the main title. The films website is displayed at the very bottom of the poster in the same shade of red as the billing block, this is for people to visit one they have viewed the rest of the poster.

Horror Trailer Film Analysis (Cabin Fever)
The trailer that have decided to analyise that is in the same genre of the film trailer I would like to create is Cabin Fever. Trailer
There are many features that are used wthin the Cabin Fever that can be seen throughout many other horror film trailers as well. Firstly the use of jump cuts throughout the whole trailer helps to create a sense of panic and urgency that can be seen within the trailer when something is happeneing. E.g. being chased by the main antagonist of the film. Next is the use of music within the trailer, the music that is chosen is usual more dark and mysterious than other music in other trailers, giving the sense of something not being right within the trailer and helping to create the atmosphere for the trailer. Lastly throughout the trailer you can see that the use close-ups and extreeme close-ups is emphisise some of the scenes within the trailer. E.g. when he finds his hand covered in the girls blood. This is once again creating a dark mysterious atmosphere for the films and creating the feel of unease for the viewers of the trailer.
